Meghan Pound Allen
received her bachelor’s degree in history from Dartmouth
College in 1998, where she graduated cum laude and received honors for her
thesis work on female spies in the Civil War. She earned her law degree from
Duke University School of Law in 2002, where she served on the National Moot
Court Board and was the board’s vice chairperson for the 2001-02 academic
year. Meghan currently is an associate at Caplan and Earnest as part of the
litigation group. Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation matters.
Meghan enjoys a variety of activities in her spare time, including hiking,
skiing and reading.
Dorothy Bustamante
received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and her MBA from
Regis University after raising her family. After 20 years with Storage Tek,
she started a new career as an administrator for NCAR. In the last few
years, Dorothy is finally at a point in her life where she has become a
community activist. In addition to serving on the YWCA board, Dorothy also
serves on the Community Action Program board, the Boulder County Latina
Women’s League and is a member of the Boulder Community United. Dorothy
believes all these organizations play an important part in making Boulder
County a better place to live. She is proud to volunteer her time, along
with so many others, to educate herself and others on diversity issues and
make a difference. Dorothy and her husband have raised four children and are
proud grandparents of seven grandchildren. Spending time with her children
and grandchildren is precious and they inspire Dorothy to continue
volunteering to make a better world for them.
Jan Combs
is the President of Boulder College of Massage Therapy, an independent,
not-for-profit organization. She has worked in the not-for-profit sector for
over 20 years. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University with a BS
in Education with a concentration in accounting, she spent several years at
not-for-profits in Illinois. Jan moved to Boulder in 2000 without a job but
with enthusiasm and determination. She used the services of the YWCA of
Boulder during her job search. The experience changed her life. She is an
avid reader, hiker and gardener. She recently purchased some land in the
mountains of northern Colorado and is busy planning her retreat/retirement
home.
Jasmine Cooper
is a senior at Boulder High school. Jasmine attended Summit Middle School
and Jarrow Montessori before that. She is 17 years old. Jasmine enjoys being
outside, reading, hanging out with friends, and doing community
service. Jasmine serves on Boulder's Youth Opportunities Advisory Board, as
well as being a competitive ski racer. She is thrilled to have the
opportunity to work with the YWCA and thinks that it will be a great way to
give back to the community she loves.
Meredith Dabberdt
has been a practitioner of nursing for many years, including teaching,
hospital practice, homecare, hospice, and oncology clinic management. She is
currently retired from active nursing and is putting her energies into
community volunteer endeavors. She moved to Boulder 20 years ago from the
San Francisco Bay area. She has two children and four grandchildren, enjoys
skiing, travel, golf, and hiking with her husband Walter, and loves reading,
gardening, and cooking. She remains a passionate advocate for women and
children, health care reform, and public policy issues.
Gretchen Fapore
is a Vice President of Business Banking with Wells Fargo. She has a
Bachelor of Science in Management from Penn State University and is a
graduate of Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Gretchen has been in
community banking for over 10 years in Colorado. When she is not working,
she is outside enjoying the Colorado mountains.
Kim Felton
is Senior Vice
President of Retail Banking at First National Bank of Colorado. Kim has
worked for the bank for 14 years and has over 20 years experience in
banking. In addition to serving on the board for the YWCA of Boulder
County, Kim is on the board for the Colorado Business and Professional
Women's Foundation and the Colorado Music Festival Foundation. Kim enjoys
the mountains, movies, and traveling.
Louise Garrels
calls on her life, career and non-profit experience to help drive the YWCA
mission. This Southern California native’s family inspires her to support
the YWCA’s work in our community. As a Japanese American mother of two
children of color living in Boulder, as a wife in a bi-racial marriage, as
the daughter of an World War II Internment Camp survivor, and as the
daughter of an immigrant, she has a vested interest in eliminating racism in
Boulder’s predominantly white community. Her day job is with the National
Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA). When she isn’t engaged in work, family
fun and YWCA projects, you can find her volunteering with Reading to End
Racism, helping in her kids’ classrooms, skiing or teaching the sport and
culture of Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling at the Boulder Reservoir.
Connie Goscinski-Smith
is a Vice President of Product Development for LeisureLogix, LLC, a
technology company servicing the travel industry. In addition, Connie was
previously Managing Partner of a real estate investing firm and property
management company and has 20 years management experience in the technical
development, product marketing, and product planning of travel industry
related products and services. She also established and managed her own
consulting firm concentrating in project management and product life cycle
development of major Information Technology projects. She lives in Boulder
and enjoys time with family and friends, traveling, biking, backcountry
skiing, and hiking.
Sadie Halvorsen
was born in Boulder and raised in Loveland. During high school, she began to
embrace her activist side by starting an Amnesty International chapter at
her school. She was also involved in a Youth Advisory Commission that
represented the youth of Loveland and facilitated getting more youth
oriented activities in Loveland. She also visited the Mexican border in
order to understand the dire situation south of the border. In her education
there, Sadie learned about the immigration issue from all sides and would
like to participate in activism concerning immigration reform. Currently,
Sadie is a student at the University of Colorado studying Environmental
Studies with the ultimate goal of becoming an international nurse
practitioner. Sadie will also serve as a student leader for an academic
honors program this year.
Amy Hiett
has a MBA in
international finance from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern
University and psychology and business degrees from Kansas State University.
Amy worked for 12 years in various roles in the technology industry for
AT&T, Sun Microsystems, and served as the General Manager for a Denver-based
software company. Amy moved into the financial services industry three years
ago and currently works as a member of a wealth management team at Citi
SmithBarney. Amy enjoys spending her free time traveling, playing tennis,
and hiking and is currently in the process of building her dream house in
Boulder.
Kaye Howe
is currently the Executive Director of the National Science Digital Library,
a major education initiative of the National Science Foundation. She was a
faculty member in Humanities and Comparative Literature at the University of
Colorado, Boulder, chair of the Program in Comparative Literature and Vice
Chancellor for Academic Services. She was President of Western State College
in Gunnison and International University, a distance education
organization. She has been active in community organizations including the
boards of the I Have A Dream Foundation and Boulder Community Hospital.
Beth Kelley
is Director of Human Resources at Solbourne, a Boulder-based leader in
delivering Oracle IT consulting solutions to government and business. After
graduating from Hood College in Maryland and spending the next 18 years
there, she moved to Colorado in 2004. Beth’s previous career background
includes over 10 years of human resource management experience in the
financial service industry and 7 years co-owning a landscape design and
construction firm. Her volunteer experience has largely been focused in the
area of working with survivors of domestic violence, rape and sexual
assault. She is an avid endurance walker, having completed several
marathons, and enjoys living, hiking and snowshoeing in the mountains of
Boulder County.
Denny Kercher
is a management consultant, executive coach and nationally recognized
speaker and trainer with over 20 years experience helping businesses,
government and non-profit entities understand and solve a variety of
organizational problems and deal with complex interpersonal issues. Denny
combines a background in both business and clinical psychology to create an
understanding of what it means to take charge of oneself. Denny has
conducted workshops and spoken to groups across the country about managing
change, communication, conflict resolution, teambuilding and leadership.
She is recognized as an expert in the area of stress and burnout management
and recently published a book entitled: I’m Juggling As Fast As I Can:
Managing Stress, Avoiding Burnout and Achieving Balance. She holds advanced
degrees in psychology, business and theology.

Heidi Kercher-Pratt
is the Director of Corporate Marketing for Vail Resorts. Vail Resorts
recently relocated its corporate headquarters to Interlocken bringing Heidi
and her family back to her roots in the Boulder area after living in Vail
for the past 10 years. A Colorado native, Heidi attended the University of
Colorado at Boulder, graduating with a degree in Psychology/Pre-Medicine.
While a student at the University of Colorado, Heidi volunteered at the YWCA
as a student board member, a member of the public policy committee and a
volunteer at the Children’s Alley, so having the opportunity to return to
the Boulder community and serve on the board again is a perfect fit. Her
husband Lance and two beautiful daughters, Brooke and Shay, love skiing,
hiking, being in the outdoors and are happy to again be close to family and
friends on the Front Range.
Karen Larson
is an executive leader with extensive global and P&L experience. She was
most recently the President and COO for Key Equipment Finance, Global Vendor
Services, a division of KeyCorp. As an industry leader, Karen has been a
frequent speaker and author on the subject of global leasing, successful
outsourced partnerships, women in leasing and successful leadership skills.
Karen’s passion has been to mentor young professionals in the corporate
world. She has volunteered as a “Senior Woman” for the Women’s Vision
Foundation providing advise and counsel to young corporate women, she has
been a frequent company speaker and representative to the national event,
“Bring Your Daughter to Work Day,” and is a mentor to individual
professionals in both structured and unstructured programs. Karen received a
BA in economics from the University of California, San Diego, and completed
executive education programs at Duke University, the Fuqua School of
Business and Case Western University.
Amy Lieberman
is an ex-New Yorker
who began
her career in the financial services before transitioning to the Silicon
Valley interactive phenomenon. With former positions including VP of Business
Development and Director of Sales and Marketing for national Interactive
Agencies, Amy’s business acumen has enabled her to serve as a “trusted
advisor” to start-ups, Fortune 500s, venture capital and consulting
companies. Amy re-located to Colorado in 2001, where she spearheaded the
Marketing efforts for a technology consulting company serving state and
local government entities. Amy is an avid traveler who enjoys reading, yoga
and skiing. In addition to working with the YWCA, she has been active in a
number of Boulder non-profit organizations including the Community
Foundation of Boulder County, the Nature Conservancy, the Colorado Alliance
for Arts Education, and Medicine Horse Group. She received a Bachelor of
Arts from Colgate University, with an English major and Philosophy minor.
Clare
Lindsay
worked for fifteen years in the public and private sector providing case
management for children and their families dealing with chronic or life
threatening illnesses. She acted as an advocate helping her clients navigate
the myriad of medical providers and other service agencies. Clare referred
her families to appropriate agencies, programs and support groups in the
community. In addition to her professional social worker career, Clare has
been involved with volunteer agencies and programs that supported children
and their families. Clare is currently facilitating support groups at
Boulder Community Hospital’s Cancer Care Center.
Aya Medrud
is a retired Boulder Valley School District teacher. She has
a BFA from the University of Colorado. She currently serves on the Special
Transit Board, the Boulder County Colorado Trust Immigration Integration
Steering Committee, and is active on issues of civil and human rights. She
is a former member of the City of Boulder Human Relations Commission, the
Boulder County Citizens Cultural Advisory Committee, and the Community
Foundation Board of Trustees. Aya has lived in Boulder since 1966. Her
interests include the American Friends Service Committee and the Boulder
Asian Pacific Alliance.
Michelle Oschmann
is a
25-year veteran in the financial services industry and is currently vice
president and Executive Banker at Vectra Bank Colorado. The 2002 and 2003
Presidents Circle Award Winner, Michelle has proven success exceeding client
financial and personal needs. She has developed long lasting relationships
built upon a solid foundation of confidence and efficiency. Michelle is
also active in the community, involved with the Boulder and Longmont
Chambers of Commerce, the Guild for the Emergency Family Assistance
Association, and a longtime supporter of the Humane Society. When not
serving her valued clients, Michelle, her husband, Jim, and their dog, Jack,
enjoy traveling, hiking and golfing.
Gail Osterbur
received her diploma in nursing from St. Luke’s Hospital
School of Nursing, St. Louis, Missouri, a Bachelor of Science degree in
Nursing from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Master of
Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado, Denver. She
has been with Boulder Community Hospital since 1985 where she has served as
the Director ICU, Central Services, Quality Improvement, and Nursing
Administration prior to becoming the Vice President of Nursing in 1997. She
is a longtime member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and
American College of Healthcare Executives. She has served on the Board of
Directors for Special Transit Services and currently serves on the Board of
the Aging Services Foundation of Boulder County.
Wendy Reynolds
is a Vice-President and Business Banking Team Leader at Vectra Bank
Colorado. She has over thirteen years of banking experience in Boulder and
is a Colorado native. Wendy is serving in her fifth year on the YWCA of
Boulder County’s Board of Directors. Additionally, she is Immediate Past
President for the Boulder Business and Professional Women’s organization,
sits on the steering committee for the Boulder Chamber of Commerce’s
Leadership Boulder County program, and assists with the Community Foundation
of Boulder County’s annual grant cycle. Wendy enjoys spending her free time
with her husband, Jon, their family and friends, and their two dogs, Taos
and Summit. She can typically be found snowboarding, camping or gardening
and also enjoys reading, photography and helping people empower themselves
to be their best.
Cammy Smith
was born in Boulder in 1974. Both of her parents were Boulder Valley School
District teachers. She graduated from Fairview High School and attended
CU-Boulder for music education. After working as an EMT and medical
assistant, she changed her major to nursing. Cammy graduated with her
Associate degree in Nursing in 2001 and her BSN in 2006. She has worked at
the Boulder Community Hospital for six years and is currently the chair of
the Nurse Practice Council and sits on several other committees.
Sarah Smith
is 17 years old and is in her senior year at Boulder High School. Sarah was
born in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Boulder, Colorado eight years
ago. Prior to Boulder High School, she attended Boulder Country Day and
Summit Middle School. Sarah ski races for the Eldora Mountain Ski Club and
plays soccer for Boulder High School. Last winter she competed in the J2
Nationals at Bend, Oregon. Sarah is thrilled to be participating on the YWCA
Board because she believes that today's youths are a driving force in our
community and that their voices need to be heard.
Debbie Taussig
is an attorney with the law firm of Trine & Metcalf, P.C. in Boulder. She
represents people who have been injured and need assistance seeking
compensation for their injuries and for their families. She also represents
clients in civil rights cases. Debbie received her law degree from the
University of Denver College of Law. She is on the board of the Colorado
Trial Lawyers Association. Debbie is a Boulder native and has spent most of
her life in Boulder. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her
husband, dog, family and friends. Her favorite activities include reading,
movies, listening to music, traveling and spending time in the outdoors.
Jennifer Tierney
is a Business Banker with Wells Fargo Bank. She graduated from the
University Of Colorado with a dual degree in Journalism and Spanish in
December 2002. Jennifer held leadership roles during college, including
serving as President of the Journalism Board during the 2001-2002 school
year. Jennifer is a native of Colorado and has spent time working in New
York after college. She is also a member of the Alumnae Board for the Kappa
Alpha Theta Flatirons chapter at CU. She lives in Superior and enjoys the
mountains, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
