Angelica Abeyta
has been in the mortgage industry for over six years. She grew up in
Colorado and currently lives in Longmont with her seven children, four boys
and three girls. Angelica enjoys being outdoors, reading, and listening to
music.
Dorothy Bustamante
received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and her MBA from
Regis University after raising her family. After 20 years with Storage Tek,
she started a new career as an administrator for NCAR. In the last few
years, Dorothy is finally at a point in her life where she has become a
community activist. In addition to serving on the YWCA board, Dorothy also
serves on the Community Action Program board, the Boulder County Latina
Women’s League and is a member of the Boulder Community United. Dorothy believes all these organizations play an important part in making Boulder
County a better place to live. She is proud to volunteer her time, along
with so many others, to educate herself and others on diversity issues and
make a difference. Dorothy and her husband have raised four children and are
proud grandparents of eight grandchildren. Spending time with her children
and grandchildren is precious and they inspire Dorothy to continue
volunteering to make a better world for them.
Susan Q. Foster is
deputy director of the Office of Education and Outreach at University
Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR). She supervises and works
collaboratively with educators and scientists at UCAR, the National Center
for Atmospheric Sciences, and universities, school districts, organizations,
and agencies in the external community on numerous educational program
initiatives. Previously, she directed the Boulder County Healthy Communities
Initiative at UCAR. She has also served as executive director of Thorne
Ecological Institute, director of the Denver Audubon Society’s Institute of
Riparian Ecology, and co-director of the Aspen Center for Environmental
Studies. She taught elementary and secondary school science in Maryland,
California, and Colorado and instructed field workshops in aquatic and
wetland ecology during the summer months. She earned a B.A. in Zoology from
Connecticut College, an M.A. in Biology and an M.A. in Secondary Education
from the University of Colorado.
Connie Goscinski-Smith is a Vice
President of Product Development for LeisureLogix, LLC, a technology company
servicing the travel industry. In addition, Connie was previously Managing Partner of a real estate investing firm and property management company and
has 20 years management experience in the technical development, product
marketing, and product planning of travel industry related products and
services.
Amy Hiett has a MBA in international
finance from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and
psychology and business degrees from Kansas State University. Amy worked for
12 years in various roles in the technology industry for AT&T, Sun
Microsystems, and served as the General Manager for a Denver-based software
company. Amy moved into the financial services industry three years ago and
has just launched a new wealth management business, Alturus Financial
Partners with a former colleague. Amy enjoys spending her free time
traveling, playing tennis, and hiking and is currently in the process of
building her dream house in Boulder.
Kaye Howe is currently the Executive
Director of the National Science Digital Library, a major education
initiative of the National Science Foundation. She was a faculty member in
Humanities and Comparative Literature at the University of Colorado,
Boulder, chair of the Program in Comparative Literature and Vice Chancellor
for Academic Services. She was President of Western State College in
Gunnison and International University, a distance education organization.
She has been active in community organizations including the boards of the I
Have A Dream Foundation and Boulder Community Hospital.
Jill Hunter is a
Business Consulting Director at Experian Decision Sciences, a global leader
in providing information, analytics and marketing services to help manage
risk in business decisioning. Jill was previously with Fair Isaac and
Company and has 18 years of database marketing consulting experience. She
received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Memphis and is a
member of the Colorado Business Marketing Association and the Rocky Mountain Direct Marketing Association. Jill lives in Erie with her husband Graeme
and their two dogs, Avery and Cuvée. She enjoys running, skiing, hiking,
gardening and cooking.
Denny Kercher is a management
consultant, executive coach and nationally recognized speaker and trainer
with over 25 years experience helping businesses, government and non-profit
entities understand and solve a variety of organizational problems and deal
with complex interpersonal issues. Denny combines a background in both
business and clinical psychology to create an understanding of what it means
to take charge of oneself. Denny has conducted workshops and spoken to
groups across the country about managing change, communication, conflict
resolution, teambuilding and leadership. She is recognized as an expert in
the area of stress and burnout management and recently published a
book entitled: I’m Juggling As Fast As I Can: Managing Stress, Avoiding
Burnout and Achieving Balance. She holds advanced degrees in psychology,
business and theology.
Kristin Macdonald
is an associate at Brownstein, Hyatt, Faber and Schreck, P.C. in Denver. She
received her bachelors degree in International Affairs from the University
of Colorado, and her masters in International Studies and her law degree
from the University of Denver in 2006. Kristin is fluent in Spanish and has
traveled throughout the world. She has previously volunteered with Project C.U.R.E in Denver and the Denver Botanical Gardens.
Jeanette Marquess
is currently Director of Strategic Marketing at the Global Healthcare
Exchange, GHX, in Louisville. She received her BS and MS in Nursing from
St. Louis University and her MBA from the University of South Florida.
Jeanette and her husband, Jack, moved to Boulder in 2007. Prior to moving
to Boulder, Jeanette lived in Palo Alto California where she was an active
volunteer. She was on the Palo Alto Child Care Task Force, and served on
the Boards of Directors of Palo Alto Community Child Care (PACC) and the
Palo Alto Family YMCA. She was a member of the Palo Alto Parks and
Recreation Commission and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the
Healthcare Communications and Marketing Association (HCMA).

Michelle Oschmann is
a 25-year veteran in the financial services industry and is currently vice
president and Executive Banker at Vectra Bank Colorado. The 2002 and 2003
Presidents Circle Award Winner, Michelle has proven success exceeding client
financial and personal needs. She has developed long lasting relationships
built upon a solid foundation of confidence and efficiency. Michelle is
also active in the community, involved with the Boulder and Longmont
Chambers of Commerce, the Guild for the Emergency Family Assistance
Association, and a longtime supporter of the Humane Society. When not
serving her valued clients, Michelle, her husband, Jim, and their dog, Jack,
enjoy traveling, hiking and golfing.
Gail Osterbur
received her diploma in nursing from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing,
St. Louis, Missouri, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Webster
University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Master of Business Administration
degree from the University of Colorado, Denver. She has been with Boulder
Community Hospital since 1985 where she has served as the Director ICU,
Central Services, Quality Improvement, and Nursing Administration prior to
becoming the Vice President of Nursing in 1997. In 2009, Gail was promoted
to COO of Boulder Community Hospital. She is a longtime member of the
American Organization of Nurse Executives and American College of Healthcare
Executives. She has served on the Board of Directors for Special Transit
Services and currently serves on the Board of the Aging Services Foundation
of Boulder County.
Barbara Paradiso is currently the
Director of the Program and Center on Domestic Violence at the School of
Public Affairs, University of Colorado Denver. Barbara has worked on behalf
of battered women and their children for more than twenty years as an
advocate, administrator and activist. Prior to her position at UCD, she
served as the Director of Domestic Violence Programs for the Sunshine Lady
Foundation of North Carolina. For twelve years, from 1985-1997, Barbara was
the Executive Director of Boulder County Safehouse. She has participated in
a variety of boards and commissions including the Colorado Coalition Against
Domestic Violence, Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, the Advisory Board of
the Boulder County Department of Human Services and the Colorado Nonprofit
Association. Barbara is currently a member and Treasurer of the Board of
Directors for the National Coalition against Domestic Violence. Barbara has
presented and provided consultation to organizations on a state, local and
national level on topics related to violence against women and children, as
well as, effective non-profit administration.
Claire Pearson is
currently a Senior Tax Manager at Clifton Gunderson, LLP. Claire
specializes in Corporate Taxation Compliance and Consulting. In addition,
she is a career advisor for a number of her staff. Claire was awarded the
Employee of the Year, Growth of our People Award in 2007. She has worked
with Clifton Gunderson for 8 years. Claire was born and raised in
Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Claire graduated from the University of
Natal, South Africa, with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, in 1996. She moved
to the United States in January 1997 and has lived in Boulder County since
November, 1997. Claire, and her husband Craig, enjoy running, skiing and
traveling.
Lupita Sánchez is
a junior at Boulder High School She has lived in Boulder for 12 years.
Lupita has two brothers and two sisters, and five nieces and nephews. She
enjoys math classes and solving problems. Lupita also serves as a board
member for YOAB and works as a server at Ruby’s Diner. For fun Lupita likes
to be active outside, dance, swim or listen to music. After graduation,
Lupita would like to pursue massage therapy.
Kathryn (Katy) Schmoll
is the Vice President for Finance and Administration at the University
Corporation for Atmospheric Research in Boulder. In this position, she is
responsible for all financial, contractual, human resources and
administrative functions of the corporation and is the Chief Financial
Officer. Katy is also responsible for facilities management and services.
Her previous positions include Comptroller for the US Environmental
Protection Agency, where she was also Agency liaison to the Congressional
Appropriations Committees, the Office of Management and Budget and the
General Accounting Office, and a series of positions at NASA, including
Assistant Associate Administrator in the Office of Space Science and
Applications. Katy has a B.S. in Public Administration from Indiana
University and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced
Management Program. Since moving here in 1997, Katy has been active in the
Boulder community.. Among other positions, she was President and Treasurer
of the Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center Board of Directors, Treasurer of
the Collage Children’s Museum, Board member at Chautauqua, a member of the
CU-Boulder Strategic Planning Committee and treasurer for the Suzy Ageton
City Council campaign. She was the recipient of the 2008 YMCA Spirit of the
Community award, the 2008 Distinguished Alumni award from the Indiana
University School of Public and Environmental Affairs and the William Jump
Award for Excellence in Public Service.
Kathe Stainton is
a project coordinator for Four Star Development. She has worked for Four
Star Realty and Property Management since 1995 with a five year absence when
she worked for Avery Woods Court Reporting Services in the Denver/Boulder
area. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas in
Austin and was the 2008 Dancing with the Boulder Stars champion. She moved
to Boulder in 1995 and enjoys hiking, rollerblading, cooking with her
husband Peter and is currently trying out tennis.
Michele Sternitzky
grew up in a small town in Wisconsin and after high school attended
Carroll-Columbia College of Nursing where she received her BSN. Michele
started working as an RN on an ICU/CCU unit in Milwaukee, WI. Shortly
thereafter, Michele got married, moved to the Boulder area and started at
Boulder Community Hospital on the Orthopedic/Neurology floor in 2001. In
2003, Michele became a Clinical Lead and now serves as the Director of that
floor. Michele is involved in multiple committees through BCH.
Teresa Taylor Tate
is an associate at Faegre and Benson. She graduated from the University of
Colorado School of Law in 2006. While studying at CU Law, she served as an
associate editor of the University of Colorado Law Review. In
addition, she was the vice president of the Class of 2006, and worked as a
research assistant and legal writing teaching assistant. Teresa made the
Dean’s List in addition to receiving the Don Sears Award for excellence in
the classroom. In 1996, Teresa received her Bachelors of Arts from Austin
College where she was the Bonnie J. Beardsley Fellow. Before attending law
school, she worked in education and educational assessment.
IKuko ( Koko) Yamazaki
is in her sixth year as a business banker at Wells Fargo Bank. She
originally started her career in the U.S. as a fixed income institutional
sales assistant in a Japanese brokerage house on Wall Street. Between
working on Wall Street and in Boulder, Koko was a full-time mother of two
boys and worked as a part-time office administrator/bookkeeper for various
small organizations, including non-profit organizations. Koko has a BA in
English from Sacred Heart University in Tokyo, a BS in Finance from Regis
University in Denver, and she is currently an MBA candidate at the
University of Colorado Leeds School of Business. Because English is Koko’s
second language and she is a first generation immigrant from Japan, she
faces challenges constantly that go beyond grammar and pronunciation.
Therefore, Koko identifies personally with YWCA’s mission statement that
“eliminating racism, empowering women” will make our community a better
place to live. Koko and her husband have spent the last two summers hiking
Fourteeners throughout Colorado. She is planning to scale a few more peaks
this summer. |
