Meet Children’s Alley Management Team
Kate Johannes - Children's Alley Director
Kate has more than 35 years experience
working
in the Early Childhood
field. She has been a preschool teacher
working
with both typical and
delayed preschool age children, a
postpartum doula working
with
newborns and their families, and
a licensed director for a
large childcare
center.
Kate was a teacher with the state
funded Colorado Preschool
Program and a mentor for beginning teachers. She is a
member of
the National Association for the Education of Young Children, a
board
member of the local chapter of NAEYC. She also serves on
the Professional
Development Committee for the Early Care and
Education Council of Boulder
County, and is a member of the Parent
and Family Engagement Task Force for Smart
Start Colorado. She received her degree in Child and Family Studies from Metro
State College in 2005. Her expanded role as the manager for the Family Resource
Center will allow Kate the opportunity to fulfill a dream of combining
her passion for working with young children with the challenge of strengthening
family connection.
Marcia Colgate – Infant
Nursery Supervisor
Marcia has 30 years experience in the childcare field
including owning
an in-home childcare center, serving as a nanny and working in
classroom settings. She has 15 units of Early Childhood Education
classes in
infant and toddler development. Prior to working for
Children’s Alley, Marcia
was employed by George Lucas’s Ranch in
California where he provided an on-site childcare center for his
employees.
Marcia lived in the San Francisco Bay area for more than
43 years
and moved to Colorado to be closer to her son and three grandchildren.
She is currently enrolled in the Child Health Liaison
Program and is
taking Spanish classes. Her hobbies include cooking, sewing and her
current home remodeling project is keeping her busy outside of work.
