The mission of the EDGE is to empower girls with the skills and attitudes
they need to take healthy risks, maintain high aspirations, and stay resilient
in the face of difficulty.
Through hands-on projects and community involvement, the EDGE prepares girls to
meet the challenges of their future by training them to be creative, confident,
competitive and self-sufficient.

This cutting edge
program teaches youth skills in Internet research, electronic communication,
digital photography and a final project such as a website or newsletter that
utilizes their new computer skills. The program collaborates with the I Have
a Dream Foundation of Boulder county and other organizations.

See your name in
the Daily Camera newspaper! Get your ideas published! Experience what it is
like to be an investigative reporter. Join Bolder Girls newspaper staff for
a 12-week session. Work one-on-one with your own editor to learn all aspects
of newspaper production, including reporting, photography, layout, and
sales. Open to girls in grades 4-6. |

Strengthen your
writing skills while creating a memory journal. Open to girls in grades 2-4. |
 |
Learn about social and environmental issues and
write articles and learn to develop a magazine "Our Earth, Our Society, Our
Voices." Open to girls in grades 6-8.

For Grades 3-5, girls learn how to apply
digital editing and paint tools to produce artwork such as posters and
silk-screens. In the more advanced class for grades 6-8, girls learn how to
use photo editing software to create a digital scrapbook. |

Make a difference
in your community! Work with like-minded women to assure the success of the
YWCA of Boulder County. As a teen director, you will learn about policy and
decision making, fundraising and how nonprofit organizations tick. Apply
today. Two high school girls from Boulder County are elected each year. |

The annual Women
and Girls Celebration is a chance to gather with mothers, daughters and other
significant women in our lives. While each year is unique, this event
consistently brings women in the community together to share their
experiences and learn more the about the YWCA, including the EDGE program. |
 |
This collaboration
with Fairview High School gives teen moms the support needed to graduate or
earn their GED. Includes roundtable mentoring groups and job shadowing with
the goal and focus of increasing graduation rates among teen mothers. |
