Youth Empowerment Programs

The YWCA offers day camps when the schools are closed, summer day camps and other classes that help youth develop competency through technological, media and leadership projects to build self-esteem. Creative project-based learning is incorporated into each class to ensue participants are gaining skills, while having fun!

Upcoming Spring Break Camp and Camp on April 1

Spring Break – Techno Explorers for Girls and Boys Ages 7-11

Get ready for an exciting week of techno exploring! Be an artist, a pirate, a knight, and a movie producer as we explore technology through adventure. No previous computer experience is necessary. Bring your own camera or use one of ours. Healthy snacks included. Please pack a sack lunch. Before and after childcare is available.

Tricky Video for Boys and Girls Ages 7-11
Want to create movies like a high-tech special effects master moviemaker? Then this is the perfect single-day camp for April Fool's Day. We will be using digital video to show young directors how to make people disappear, how to stage an action scene, and more — in short, how to be a video genius. At the end of camp each camper will come home with a short movie that they produced. No previous computer or video experience necessary. Video cameras will be provided. Please pack a sack lunch.

School Closure Day Camps

The YWCA offers Creative Adventures on many days that Boulder Valley School District is closed. Registration is coordinated by Lifelong Learning at www.bvsd.org/lll.

Additional Programs

Latina Achievement Support Program The YWCA collaborates with the Boulder Valley School District on programs designed to close the achievement gap that often exists for Latina students.

Teen Board Directors Each year, the YWCA has one or two teen board members where they learn about policy and decision making, fundraising and nonprofit board governance.
