How do I schedule my child’s first visit?
If you are enrolling your child for the first time, you may call ahead and schedule your childcare at any time. We encourage you to download the enrollment forms, fill them out, and bring them with you. We can also provide you with an enrollment packet upon your arrival and you can fill it out on-site. For your second and subsequent visits, our drop-in model entails that parents call one day prior (any time from 2:00 pm on) in order to schedule care for the following day.
When I call at 2:00 pm to reserve childcare, the phone just rings – can I leave you a voicemail?
Children’s Alley receives a high volume of calls at 2:00 pm each day. If a call is not answered immediately, it is entered in to a queue and parents will be helped in the order they call. Leaving a voicemail requesting a reservation does not confirm the reservation. Reservations can only be confirmed when speaking to our office staff.
What if I need childcare today?
If we have room available on a particular day for the space that you need, we will do our very best to schedule your child. However, you are most likely to obtain a childcare slot by calling the day before you need care as close to 2pm as possible.
How do I schedule for Saturday childcare?
You may call any day during the week to schedule for the following Saturday, but prepayment is required to hold your spot. A flat $6.75 hourly rate applies, regardless of a family’s income.
What are the fees?
There is a one-time $15 registration fee per family per year to enroll. Hourly fees are based on total gross household income. Due to our public funding, we are required to collect household income verification from our clients, and you will be asked to provide verification upon enrolling. Discounts apply to families with more than three children. We happily accept CCAP! See the table below for fee information:
|Total Annual Household Income||Hourly Rate Per Child|
Is there a minimum or maximum length of time I can schedule my child?
There is no minimum or maximum number of hours required in order to receive care, however, please note that we bill for a minimum of 2 hours.
What should I bring for my child's visit?
Please bring an extra set of weather-appropriate clothes and diapers (if needed). If this is your child’s first visit at a child care center, please bring a comforting object, such as a favorite blanket or stuffed animal to provide a sense of familiarity.
I heard that you are an “emergency, drop-in childcare center.” Do I have to have an emergency to utilize your services?
No – you do not have to have an emergency to use Children’s Alley. You may use our childcare for any reason, whether it’s a doctor’s appointment or a date night.
Do I need to bring food or snacks for my child?
Children’s Alley provides nutritious meals and snacks. Lunch is served at 12:00pm and dinner is served at 5:30pm. Snacks are provided at 10:00am and 3:00pm. Children's Alley is a nut free facility; if you choose to bring food from home, please carefully inspect to ensure no nuts are present. Please let us know if your child has any dietary requirements. We offer alternatives to meet all dietary needs, such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, etc.
Do you offer long-term childcare?
Children’s Alley primarily provides drop-in, temporary childcare. We occasionally offer limited contract care for up to six weeks. Please inquire with our staff regarding any contract openings.
Do you accept children with special needs?
We are happy to accommodate children with special needs (developmental, physical, emotional, or behavioral). Please inform us of all of your child’s needs upon enrollment so that we may plan ahead and schedule any additional staff needed to ensure excellent care for your child.
