The YWCA Boulder County and the Women’s Collaborative of Boulder County will host an event advocating for reproductive freedom on Jan. 27 in Boulder and Longmont.

The primary rally is planned in front of the Boulder County Courthouse at 1300 Pearl St., Boulder, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A sister event will take place at Sixth Avenue and Main Street in Longmont during the same timeframe.

The events aim to support the Colorado Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice Coalition and the Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedom Individual Endorsement movement. Central to the drive is Initiative 89, which seeks to amend the Colorado constitution to include abortion as a covered service under health insurance plans for state and municipal government employees, emphasizing autonomy and avoiding discrimination against women’s rights.

“The proposed initiative aimed at guaranteeing abortion access in Colorado is something we’ve been working on for a long time,” Debbie Pope, CEO of YWCA Boulder County, said in a statement.

During the event, organizers plan to gather signatures to support the ballot initiative. The program includes speakers from the movement sharing their stories, and DJ CYN will provide music.

Updates and additional information about the event can be found on the YWCA Boulder County’s website at ywcaboulder.org.
