2024 Gala Awardees

YWCA Boulder County is thrilled to announce our 2024 Gala awardees: Sandy Weeks and Pedro Senhorinha Silva.

Sandra (Sandy) Weeks moved to Boulder in 1973 as a single mom from the East Coast. After working in several local cabinet shops and for a General Contractor, Sandy started Blue Spruce Construction Services in 1997. Sandy’s hard work and dedication has earned Blue Spruce Construction Services consistent recognition, including such lists as Top Women Owned Businesses in Colorado, Top 25 Boulder County General Contractor, and Top 250 Private Companies in the State of Colorado. Sandy served on the Board of YWCA Boulder County until 2016, including as President of the Board in 2014. In 2018, Sandy participated in the YWCA Boulder County Dancing with the Boulder Stars fundraising event and won! Sandy is actively involved in other nonprofit work and is currently on the Board of Directors for TGTHR (formerly Attention Homes). Sandy recently joined the Board of Directors for the Colorado Chautauqua Association, where she is the Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee. Her true measure of success in life is the valuable relationships she creates with clients, employees and her many wonderful friends. Sandy has two grown children, Meredith Reiff and Brad Weeks, with wonderful spouses, as well as two grandsons, Laszlo Weeks, welcomed in October 2023, and 19-year-old grandson, Ashton Wimmer, currently serving in the Air Force.

Pedro Senhorinha Silva, YOUnify's Director of Engagement, has a cross-sector background that extends from military to ministry and beyond. Beginning his career as a Satellite Communications Technician and Mandarin Chinese Language/Intelligence Analyst with the USAF, Pedro then leveraged those experiences into a career in corporate recruitment, specializing in technology and biotech. Along the way he became certified in Diversity Training Management and used those skills to bridge relational chasms in the hiring processes for his clients. Recognizing that there was a deeper human need that was not being addressed in the workplace and wider community, Pedro pursued a Masters that focused on Theological Research. This eventually led to his decades long role in pastoral leadership where he emphasized civic engagement and social impact, including a role as the State Representative for the Boulder Caucus of Together Colorado (Faith in Action). Pedro advocates for various causes, hosts community conversations on important topics, and contributes to the bridging movement through his role with YOUnify and most recently, The Liberation Comedy Project. He is also host of the monthly podcast, “What’s So Funny About…?”

Join us in honoring Sandy and Pedro at our 2024 Gala!
