A Note from our CEO, Soledad Díaz

Dear YWCA Boulder County Community,

May is a month that reminds us of the power of history, identity, and belonging. As we recognize Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we honor the generations of AANHPI leaders, families, organizers, artists, workers, and community builders whose contributions have shaped our country and strengthened our movements for justice.

This spring has been a powerful reminder that we cannot do this work alone.

From Women’s Empowerment Day at the Capitol, where community members came together to learn, advocate, and lift their voices, to our Better Because of Her Luncheon, where we gathered to celebrate the women and allies who make our community stronger, we have been busy connecting, listening, and learning from one another. In every space, the message has been clear: we are more powerful together.

At the Capitol, we saw what happens when people step into advocacy, many for the first time, and recognize that their voices matter. At the luncheon, we celebrated the people whose leadership, generosity, and courage reminded us why this work is worth doing. Across programs, partnerships, and community conversations, we are continuing to build relationships rooted in trust, collaboration, and shared purpose.

This is what movement work looks like. It is not one organization, one event, or one person. It is all of us. Connection is the work. We build power when we learn from each other, celebrate each other, and refuse to let anyone carry the weight of change alone.

Thank you for being part of this community. Thank you for showing up, for believing in this mission, and for walking alongside us.

Mayo es un mes que nos recuerda el poder de la historia, la identidad y el sentido de pertenencia. Al reconocer el Mes de la Herencia de Nativos Hawaianos, Isleños del Pacífico y Asiáticos Americanos (AANHPI), honramos a generaciones de líderes, familias, organizadores, artistas, trabajadores y constructores de comunidad AANHPI, cuyas contribuciones han dado forma a este país y han fortalecido nuestros movimientos por la justicia.

Esta primavera ha sido un poderoso recordatorio de que no podemos hacer este trabajo solos.

Desde el Día de Empoderamiento de las Mujeres en el Capitolio, donde integrantes de nuestra comunidad se reunieron para aprender, abogar y alzar sus voces, hasta nuestro almuerzo Better Because of Her, donde nos reunimos para celebrar a las mujeres y aliadas/os que hacen más fuerte a nuestra comunidad, hemos estado ocupadas conectando, escuchando y aprendiendo unos de otros. En cada espacio, el mensaje ha sido claro: somos más poderosos cuando estamos juntos.

A través de nuestros programas, alianzas y conversaciones comunitarias, seguimos construyendo relaciones basadas en la confianza, la colaboración y un propósito compartido.

Así es como se ve el trabajo de un movimiento. No se trata de una sola organización, un solo evento o una sola persona. Se trata de todos nosotros. Conexión es la clave. Somos mas poderosos cuando aprendemos unos de otros, nos celebramos mutuamente y nos negamos a dejar el peso del cambio en un solo grupo o persona.

Gracias por ser parte de esta comunidad. Gracias por estar presentes, por creer en esta misión y por caminar con nosotros.
