Meet Our Team: Welcoming Soledad Díaz and Angela Madura to YWCA Boulder County

YWCA Boulder County is proud to welcome two remarkable leaders to our team—Soledad Díaz as Chief Executive Officer and Angela Madura as Development Director. Each brings deep experience, a strong commitment to justice, and a shared belief in the power of relationships to create lasting change. We’re excited to introduce them and share what draws them to this work and to our community.

Soledad Díaz, Chief Executive Officer

For Soledad Díaz, stepping into the role of CEO at YWCA Boulder County is both a professional calling and a personal homecoming.

“What drew me to this role is the YWCA’s clear and courageous commitment to justice not just in words, but in the everyday, practical ways it shows up for people,” Soledad shares.

The YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and advancing peace, justice, freedom, and dignity resonated deeply with her because these values are lived out daily through programs, relationships, and decisions.

Soledad is especially inspired by YWCA Boulder County’s deep roots in the local community. From early childhood education and family support, she has seen firsthand how the organization’s work touches families, children, and individuals in tangible, lasting ways. “That steady, relational, community-centered presence is something I deeply respect and wanted to be part of,” she says.

As a Boulder resident, Soledad views this role as a meaningful way to give back to a community she cares deeply about. She brings a blend of systems-level leadership and hands-on, community-based experience, having led organizations through transitions, partnered closely with boards, stewarded public and philanthropic funding, and worked directly with survivors, families, staff, and volunteers.

At the core of her leadership style is relationship and care. She describes herself as collaborative, deeply attentive, and committed to equity-centered, trauma-informed leadership. “Strong organizations are built by investing in people, staying aligned with values, and remaining accountable to the communities we serve,” she says.

Looking ahead, Soledad is excited to help steward the YWCA into its next chapter honoring its long history while growing its relevance and impact for today’s community. She’s particularly energized by strengthening partnerships, expanding access, and nurturing a supportive internal culture where staff feel valued and able to do their best work.

Outside of work, Soledad stays grounded through time with friends and family often around music and conversation. A Chilean asado with good music and loved ones is her ideal way to recharge. She also enjoys knitting, photography, and movies, drawn to storytelling in all its forms to stay connected to meaning and purpose.

Angela Madura, Development Director

Angela Madura joins YWCA Boulder County as Development Director, bringing more than 15 years of nonprofit fundraising experience and a deep personal connection to the mission.

“The YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women resonates deeply with me personally and professionally,” Angela says. She’s drawn to organizations that confront systems of injustice head-on, and she’s especially inspired by YWCA’s comprehensive approach from affordable childcare at Persimmon Early Learning to youth programs and state-level advocacy. “That intersection of direct service and systemic change is powerful.”

Angela’s fundraising philosophy centers on authenticity and trust. While she’s a strategic thinker who loves data and planning, she never loses sight of the heart of the work: inviting donors to be true partners in the mission and celebrating the impact of their generosity. Her background championing equity at Techstars strengthens her commitment to ensuring that development practices reflect YWCA’s values of racial justice and inclusion.

What excites Angela most is building strong relationships with donors and expanding the major gifts program helping supporters see how their philanthropy creates ripple effects across families and the broader community. She’s also energized to support the Board in their fundraising leadership, equipping them with tools to serve as confident ambassadors for YWCA Boulder County.

In a moment when federal funding freezes threaten child care and social services, Angela is especially motivated to strengthen YWCA’s philanthropic base. “We want to have a solid foundation to make sure we can serve families and our community no matter what.” We want to have a solid foundation to make sure we can serve families and our community no matter what

Outside of work, Angela is passionate about theater and the arts, with a background in arts management and a love for how live performance builds empathy across differences. She’s also an avid reader, watercolor artist, and busy parent to a teenager. Like many nonprofit leaders, she’s learned the importance of stepping away to recharge through creativity, exercise, and time with friends and family.

We are thrilled to have Soledad Díaz and Angela Madura as part of YWCA Boulder County community. Their leadership, values, and dedication strengthen our work as we continue advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for all.
