History

For 40 years, YWCA Boulder County has provided high-quality, affordable child care in the heart of Boulder. Throughout the years, we’ve responded to evolving community needs, from offering the county’s only sliding scale, drop-in child care program, to adding more long-term care options, to providing more flexible schedules to accommodate a changing employment landscape.

Four decades ago, YWCA Boulder County recognized the need for flexible, affordable drop-in child care and created Children’s Alley. Our child care program expanded in 2020, prompting a new name:  Persimmon Early Learning. Thanks to strong community support, we completed a $600,000 renovation and refresh, expanding capacity to five licensed classrooms, three updated Outdoor Learning Areas, one commercial kitchen and a smaller kitchen for nutrition activities. Our new indoor and outdoor spaces complement our emphasis on health, wellness, and nutrition, providing room for more active play, exercise, nature exploration, and gardening.
