Volunteer Training at Mesa Elementary

We were so happy to have the first part of our Reading to End Racism volunteer orientation hosted by Mesa Elementary on November 29th.  This orientation was opened to the public with parents from Mesa Elementary and other surrounding schools.

We’re thankful to the DEI Committee co-chairs Christine Chen and Sarah Thomas for getting us into the school and helping us grow our amazing volunteer base. Our 15 participants were engaged in such an exciting way! Tonight, we went over the history of the program and talked about our stories; a critical part of our reader’s work. In our second part of the orientation, we will be practicing by doing mock readings so that our volunteers are ready to rock at our spring readings at University Hill Elementary, the Friends School, Crest View Elementary, Creekside Elementary, and Foothills Elementary.
