YWCA Celebrates 10 Years of Reading to End Racism

What a wonderful night to reminisce on the history of Reading End Racism and celebrate the current work going into this wonderful program!

With 42 people in attendance, our wonderful volunteers – those who were recently oriented along with RER volunteers from the original grassroots organization – were thrilled to reconnect with each other, the Boulder Public Library, and our YWCA staff as well as one of the founders of the program, Daniel Escalante. We were able to experience a reading with one of our long-time volunteers Steve Frankel and connect with each other on why we continue to go into schools with our stories. We are thrilled to have Mesa Elementary host our next volunteer orientation on November 29th and December 6th. We look forward to the new year with new and long-time volunteers reading at University Hill Elementary, Douglas Elementary, Friend’s School, Crest View Elementary, and Creekside Elementary.

If you’d like to volunteer, watch our event calendar for our upcoming volunteer trainings!
